Six-toed cat cam!

I purred with delight when I saw this commercial for the first time today featuring a “six-toed cat cam!” I immediately thought the cat must be a reference to author Ernest Hemingway, a famous resident of the Florida Keys (and one of the most well-know ailurophiles) who owned a six-toed cat. My suspicion was confirmed by this website about the ad campaign, which states “the copper-colored feline is a direct descendant of the six-toed cats once owned by world-renowned author and former Key West resident Ernest Hemingway.” In fact, Key West is the location of the Hemingway Home, where over 60 cats still live.

Joey Ramone & Cat

joey_ramone_catMenandcats.com reader Juliana sent me this wonderful photo of the late, great Joey Ramone with a feline friend. Little did Juliana know that the Ramones are one of my all-time favorite bands and that I love, love, love Joey Ramone. In fact, when I got married, I suggested my husband and I both change our last name to “Ramone” (if you get married in NY State, both husband and wife can legally change their last names to a mutually agreed upon last name that is neither the husband nor wife’s original surname). The husband, however, rejected this idea. In my heart, though, I’ll always be Janine Ramone.

Famous Men Who Love Cats: Russell Brand loves his cat, Morrissey

Awww! Who knew that Russell Brand, the rather raunchy British comedian best known in the U.S. for his role in the movie Forgetting Sarah Marshall, loved cats so much? Apparently, he talks about his cat all the time, and Lindsay  Lohan tried to get on his good side by sending him a cat –  but he said no thanks, because his heart already belongs to his beloved cat Morrissey! And what a cute name for a cat… I love it.

(I’m sorry I don’t know who to credit this photo to – my sister sent it to me, and it’s floating around the web in various places. If anyone knows, feel free to tell me).
