Feline adjustment

A lot of people have asked me how my cats are adjusting to the new little man of the household. Since they are the best cats in the world, Charley and Thurston are adjusting fine so far. There have been a few changes, of course, but the cats are doing just great and so is the baby. With the help of daddy, our little guy even pet Charley this morning!

Recil and Cyrus

This is Recil (human) and Cyrus (a six year old orange tabby). Recil’s wife, Alondra, says when she saw this photo from 2003, “I knew I was making the right decision to marry this man.”

Although Cyrus is no longer alive, Alondra says he had a great life full of love. She also says, “My husband is just now coming home from Iraq and my warm feelings for him burn hot with love, especially when I look at these and other photos of him with our cats and dogs.”

Welcome home, Recil! Hope you have a wonderful reunion with your human and animal family members!

Mark and Vinnie

These very handsome guys basking in a ray of sunlight are Mark (human) and Vinnie (cat). Mark’s wife says she knew Vinnie would be a part of their family when she put him on her lap at the shelter and he immediately started purring. She says, “When I first brought him home, Mark wasn’t too interested in the added responsibility. After two days, I knew Mark had a change of heart when I found a chair by the window. When I asked him why he put it there, he responded, ‘I thought Vinnie might get bored so I put it there so that he could look out the window.’ A year later, we got Vinnie a little sister. While mark loves both of his ‘children’ equally, he definitely still has a special bond with Vinnie.”

Judging by this photo, they seem to be two peas in a pod indeed!

Cleo and her man

This beautiful tortoiseshell cat is Cleo, and she is 20 years old! Menandcats.com reader Jennifer submitted this photo of Cleo and her man (who prefers to remain un-named).

Jennifer says, “When I met my husband, I had a rule that I would only date men who had a cat.  He had TWO!  We’ve been together a long time now (14 years), but our little tortie, Cleo, has me beat – she’s been with him since she was a tiny, rescued kitten, 20 years ago. Here he is with Cleo (this was taken a few years ago, when she was 17 – she looks pretty much the same, which is beautiful, especially considering her age!). Cleo loves anywhere warm and a nice lap, in the sunshine is just about perfect.”

Jeff and Nick

I just love this photo of Jeff (man) and Nick (cat). Jeff’s wife, Deb, describes Nick as Jeff’s “very best friend of twelve years.” She says, “From the day we went to the animal shelter and the staff opened the door to reveal the cages, it was love at first sight. Nick was a year-and-a-half old, and he and Jeff locked eyes, while the rest of us could practically hear the violins fill the air. Since then, they’ve been inseparable.” What a great pair! They remind me of my own household, where we also have a tuxedo cat and a man who are inseparable!
