Cat Cafe in NYC

catucinnoHave you heard about the Purina Pop-up Cat Cafe in NYC? (My first thought was actually “How is this allowed by the health department?” Apparently because they are giving away the drinks for free and the food is from off the premises). The line is already around the block, so I won’t be visiting (it’s only around for a few days, and if I want to drink coffee and pet a cat, I can head home!) You can actually watch a live-stream from the cafe, though. These cat-uccinos look cute!

A new look

It’s about time this site got a little update, don’t you think? So we have a new look… hope you like it. If you spot any bugs or want to give feedback, as always, you can e-mail me at janine@menandcats.com.

Pete the Cat

petecat

How could I have been remiss in not posting anything on this website about Pete the Cat? My son is a huge fan of the Pete the Cat book “I love my white shoes“, and I enjoy it as well. There’s even a song to go along with the book, and wonderful illustrations of a laid-back cat whose attitude is “It’s all good.” My favorite illustration is the cat drinking a cup of coffee.

So this is a nice post about the artist (James Dean) behind Pete, and how there was a real Pete the Cat who inspired James. Apparently James has five cats! So if you haven’t read the Pete the Cat book yet, check it out. It’s all good.

Schauden-blog?

I feel like there should be a word, possibly in German or maybe Yiddish, which means “Shame for not posting to one’s blog.”

Although perhaps blogging is now hopelessly old-fashioned? I think more people just post photos to the Men and Cats facebook group than submit them to this blog. Plus my lack of time…

I’m creating a Twitter account for Men and Cats.

Help PAWS NY get a $50,000 grant

Hopefully Menandcats.com readers already subscribe to, and read, the PAWS NY e-newsletter and/or are part of our Facebook group, but in case you haven’t heard the news, we are in the running for a potential $50,000 grant from Pepsi as part of the Pepsi Refresh campaign – and needless to say, this amount of money would be hugely transformational for us.

The way grantees are chosen is dependent on voting – so PLEASE vote, it literally only takes 30 seconds with one click and you can do it once a day.
